About the program

Have you ever wondered how the brain allows us to see, think, and feel? In this interactive course, you’ll dive into the science of the mind—from the tiny neurons that transmit electrical signals, to the vast networks that power memory, emotion, and decision-making. Through guided experiments and real data collection, you’ll explore how neuroscientists study the brain and make discoveries that help us understand ourselves and others.

Each day combines engaging discussions with hands-on lab experiences, including a sheep brain dissection and a live EEG (electroencephalogram) recording session to measure brain activity. You’ll connect structure to function by comparing animal and human brains, and even visit the Smithsonian National Zoo to explore how different species’ brains adapt to their environments. By the end of the week, you’ll have a clearer picture of how the brain shapes everything we do—and why neuroscience is one of the most exciting frontiers in science today.

Important Note: The price listed reflects early-bird pricing and will change on Sunday, March 1.

This is an in-person course that meets daily Monday-Friday in Fairfax, 9AM – 4PM ET. Tuition covers materials, meals (lunch/snacks), and transportation to any off-site excursions.
