Pursue Teaching
Master of Teaching – English As a Second Language
UVA EHD prepares teacher candidates to honor and grow the assets and resources that students bring to classrooms and schools. This program is ideal for working professionals seeking a flexible licensure program. All coursework is in an online, asynchronous format. Candidates typically take 1-2 courses per semester but will work with an advisor to develop an individual plan of study to meet their needs.
Master of Teaching – Special Education
The Master of Teaching – Special Education program reflects the depth of UVA EHD’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as they work together with students toward actualizing a more just society. By drawing upon the expertise of experienced educators and community partners, UVA EHD prepares teacher candidates to honor and grow the assets and resources that students bring to classrooms and schools. They lead with integrity, committed to student, family, and community success and well-being. This community is equity-oriented teacher educators, collaborators, and innovators.
Pursue Curriculum & Instruction
Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction
This program is designed for individuals who want to make a difference in educational settings by developing more effective instructional practices and better curriculum development strategies. This program is 100% online and asynchronous. In addition to core requirements in the four pillars of the program (curriculum, instruction, assessment, and diversity), students will select an area of emphasis from among ten options.
Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction – Reading Education
The program is designed to develop knowledge about science-based reading instruction and effective and efficient reading assessment and instruction at both the elementary and secondary levels. The program develops students as literacy leaders in their schools and districts and prepares individuals for literacy work in community colleges, industry, adult education programs, commercial education centers, and private practice.
