Q&A: Customer Experience Leadership Institute with Augusto

Meet Augusto Cangahuala, a member of the inaugural Customer Experience Leadership Institute (CELI) cohort at UVA | Northern Virginia. He currently serves as the Customer Experience Program Manager for the Administration for Children and Families (ACF). We sat down with Augusto after the program to hear about his experience. 

Q. What made you register for the inaugural CELI program?

A. First, it was the focus on the leadership aspect of a CX program in Government, something I had not seen before. Then, I knew that having some of the most talented and experienced members of the GovCX community together for 3 days is not something that happens all the time, so that alone was also a factor on my decision. I learned as much from the discussions with my classmates as I did from the amazing UVA faculty.

Q. How did the CELI program influence you as a professional?

A. It better prepared me for what I am currently doing, providing insight into research and what other agencies and local governments are doing and the challenges they are facing. It also equipped me with tools and resources to be more effective looking into what comes next in my career. The networking was also great, allowing to develop wonderful relationships with my classmates and instructors.  

Q. What advice do you have for someone considering the program?

A. Sign up. In addition to everything I mentioned before, the experience is unparalleled. The instructors, faculty, and staff have thought of it all. Instruction happens in a beautiful and modern campus, you enjoy the most delicious meals I’ve experience at a class or conference, and you feel welcomed and cared for every minute of the program.

The Customer Experience Leadership Institute is a two-and-a-half-day program for practitioners who want to better understand the principles and practices of customer experience (CX). Through this program, government leaders elevate their organization’s approach to engaging with its customers.
